Ah, the STORE section... can you feel my greed and capitalistic streak running rampant? ^_^' Well OK, maybe this is not so much a store as a list of all the existing merchandise related to Jin-Roh that I could find. But I sure won't object if you want to buy stuff through the links, since it's supposed to give me some money.

Little info about this book, except what's on this page from Production IG's Japanese site. However, a fan (Philou) e-mailed me saying the artbook is pretty good. It describes the story and it has pictures from the finished anime as well as development drawings.

    Kaiyodo models

For those who don't know, Kaiyodo is an old and venerable Japanese company that specializes in "toys". Astonishingly beautiful toys: from the simple action figure to the extravagant (and expensive) polystone scuplture, everything has a spectacular level of detail. And of course, this being Japan, a large portion of their products are derived from anime.

So it turns out that Kaiyodo made two Jin-Roh products: a garage kit and an action figure. They are both insanely detailed but the garage kit is much taller (1/6 scale) than the action figure (1/20). It's also much older: it has long been out of stock and it is now a Rare and Valuable Collector's Item. The action figure, on the other hand, is pretty new (as of May 25th 2001), but if you want one I suggest you hurry. This kind of highly detailed military model is always popular and likely to disappear quickly. (And no, I have no idea where to find it)

Look at this, you have to agree they're superb, no?

Garage Kit Name : Protect Gear [Jinroh Version]
    Sculptor : Katsuo Takuma
    Scale : 1/6
Kit Type : Soft Vinyl Modeling Kit [Limited 500pcs]
    Series : SFX Heroes series
    Price : 6,800¥
Action figure Name : Protect Gear (Jinroh version)
Sculptor : Akira Tani & Eiichiro Matsumoto
    Scale : 1 / 20
Kit Type : Blister packaged Action Figure
    Series : Jinroh series
    Price : 2,800¥

    Panzer Cop live-action movies

Protect Gear from the movies Mamoru Oshii seems to be very fond of his Panzer Cop universe. Before writing the script for the anime Jin-Roh, he directed two live-action movies set in this universe (with the Protect Gears and all ^_^). I've been asked several times how to get those movies, and until now I had no answer. However, there is one fan who persevered and found a place to order those movies (in raw Japanese) online.

Huge thanks to Timothy Clark for finding THIS WEBSITE. If you go in the "JAPANESE SCI-FI" section, you can find the cover of Stray Dogs, the second movie. You won't see The Red Spectacles but you can still order it, it's available.
